Hockey: Wisconsin earns series split with Minnesota, wins 4-3 Saturday

Senior captain Peter Tischke scored the game-winning goal at 4:02 of the third period of Saturday night's Border Battle finale against Minnesota to lift the Wisconsin men's hockey team, 4-3, over the Golden Gophers at 3M Arena in Mariucci.

The Badgers (9-11-4, 5-5-4-1 B1G) trailed the Gophers (10-11-4, 7-6-3-0 B1G) by one-goal after the first period, but a tense middle frame of seesaw scoring left each team with three goals apiece, with all three Minnesota goals coming on the power play.

In the opening moments of the final frame, Tischke broke the tie after firing a shot high past Minnesota goaltender Mat Robson to make it a 4-3 game. The goal marked Tischke's third game-winning tally of his career.
