Football: Wisconsin quarterback battle in camp yields positive results

In the competition for playing time at quarterback, Wisconsin's four contenders have all shown what makes them uniquely qualified to handle the responsibility.

Alex Hornibrook's transfer left open a significant role on the offense. Last year's fill-in starter, Jack Coan, has the most experience of the group, and has taken last year's playing experience and this spring's camp to get more comfortable with the first team.

Danny Vanden Boom had limited run, but is the only other quarterback on the roster with playing experience.

Chase Wolf and the highly-touted true freshman, Graham Mertz, bring talent and depth to the position as well.
