With the transfer of Alex Hornibrook, Jack Coan has emerged as the number-one quarterback for the Wisconsin Badgers entering the 2019 season.
Coan, who started several games while Hornibrook dealt with a concussion in 2018, returns the most experience from last year's quarterback group. Danny Vanden Boom played a handful of snaps in 2018, but Coan started games.
In terms of the quarterbacks, Coan says that the group is always competing, on the field and off of it.
Matt Lepay caught up with Coan ahead of the season opener against South Florida, which airs Friday on the Badger Sports Network at 6 p.m.
